This is Darla.
Darla was one of the sweetest sloth I’ve met during my stay at the Sloth Sanctuary. She was brought in by a family that probably used to abuse her and when she arrived she had a limp arm. The veterinary examined it throughfully and didn’t find anything strange with it. It was just limp.
But Darla was spending her days sitting in a corner, unmoving and barely eating anything. She was not responding to the loving cure of Judy or to the treatment of the veterinary, so as cruel as this sound he suggested it would be better to cut her arm. And as soon as did it Darla started to move again and to eat normally.
I really miss Darla because even though she didn’t like human contact, a strange thing for a three fingered sloth, she was still longing for love and she would stuck her head through the cage when I was passing by because she knew I would go inside her cage and just talk with her and gently petting her. She didn’t want to hug you she just wanted you to be there and it was really heartbreaking seeing her moving inside the cage with only three legs but it also gave me a sense of respect because she could still move and eat and be herself.
